December
I cannot believe that the month of December is just two days away! Time really has flown by and I'm not just saying that. Part of me feels like we just got to Louisville yesterday, but part of me feels like we've been here forever. I guess I already did a few posts on thankfulness, but we cannot express enough what a blessing this seminary, this town, our church, and our friends here have been to us. Ok, that sounded like some kind of good-bye, but don't worry we are here to stay for quite awhile!
My good friend Franny took the picture above. She took some great shots of us, and we will pick one soon to send out with Christmas cards. Thanks Franny! She is so talented.
We have a busy month ahead of us, but I am excited about a lot of things. I think the biggest thing I am excited about is that exactly three weeks from today we will be driving to Texas, and hopefully well on our way to Dallas, where we will be staying with my dear friend Amanda. We will then have a week to see family and friends and we cannot wait. I am seriously considering bringing back some Texas dirt just to say that I have a little piece of Texas with me. I will also keep busy with numerous parties at work. It's that time of year! Time to remind ourselves that we don't have to have one of every cookie that is on the table. Just try one and be thankful for it...those are my plans anyway. I HATE the feeling in January of utter guilt from holiday gluttony. We also have a few weekend trips planned. Next weekend we are headed to Indianoplis to visit some of my family, and the following weekend we are headed to St. Louis to meet up with Aaron Hale (Eron's best friend) and his new fiance, Heather. Should be lots of fun!
December also holds a big mark for the Plevans--2 years of marriage! I can't believe that it's been 2 years. God is good and has brought us through a lot and we are growing and learning, slowly but surely what it means to be selfless and obedient to the Lord's command to love one another.
I hope that you all are as excited as I am that Saturday is the first of December. But I hope that I don't get more excited about the gifts, decorations, and parties than I do about the amazing gospel truth that the light of the world came down to earth to be the ultimate sacrifice, through which we now have reconciliation with the Father and with one another.
MERRY ALMOST DECEMBER!

Whoops....Still thankful!
I missed a day! Yesterday was a busy day, so maybe you'll get two posts today!
I am thankful for the fact that I have a refrigerator full of food and a closet full of clothes. Although I often think, "There is nothing to eat!" or "I have nothing to wear!!", that could not be farther from the truth. God has blessed us abundantly with a wonderful place to live, jobs to provide for us, and so much more! I know it seems cliche, but I really am thankful for these things. So true that God knows what we need and He will provide it!
Amen!!

A Post A Day
A post a day on what I am thankful for from now until Thanksgiving.
(Granted, I could write something everyday for a whole year, but we'll just do a few this week. :) )
I am thankful for the gospel. I am thankful for Christ's work, finished, that makes me right before the father. And I'm thankful for a church that reminds me of this every week. I was thinking about this yesterday, that a really tangible way they do this is through taking the Lord's supper every week. You would think it would become routine, but it never does. It reminds me each week of the truth of the gospel when our pastor echoes scripture in saying "every time you eat this bread and you drink this cup you are pronouncing the Lord's death until He returns." And when I go to take communion and my brothers and sisters who are serving it to me tell me, "This is the body of Christ broken for you" and, "This is the blood of Christ shed for you" I am reminded of the truths of the gospel. I am so often encouraged to see the body minister to each other through this ordinance.
I am very, very thankful for Christ most of all!!!
AMEN!

Friday!
For some reason I really feel like postin' it up this week. So here is another one. I don't have much to say, except that the business of this time of year is about to get going!
I have a few things going on this weekend, including girls night with our small group at our place. Eron will be enjoying guys night which will include lots of football watching!! Next week is Thanksgiving and we are having people over for some turkey (hopefully good turkey) :) Then begins the parties, and the shopping, and the trips to Indy and St. Louis to hang out with family and friends. I'm looking forward to it all though!
I've learned once again that I have an addiction to coffee. I've tried to cut it off some this week. This all started with a major headache on Tuesday when I didn't have my morning dose. I don't drink that much coffee, but just that small cup in the morning makes my body think it needs it every morning by 9:00am. Trying to wean myself off now :)
It seems like everyone just had a baby at our church. There have been TONS of births over the past few weeks. We got to visit our old community group leaders in the hospital last week. I forgot how small little newborns are! Also on the pregnant note, seems like lots of people are due next Spring. Congrats to Laura, Shaunna, Franny, and Abby! All friends who are due the last week in May. Some week in September must have been a good week :)
I hope everyone has a great weekend! We are going to hang out with some friends tonight and make enchiladas. YUM! Maybe I'll get around to posting some pics next week.

Is anyone else
dying for it to be after Thanksgiving so it can be a little more "normal" to play Christmas music while you clean the house or have "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" as your ringtone? I AM!! :)

Hey Again!
Time for another update post. I'm sure everyone is dying to know how things are here in the 'Ville. Well, it is Fall, it has been chilly (today being the exception with an expected high of 70 degrees!), the leaves are changing, and the semester is winding down (frantically of course). Here are a few updates from the Plevan family:
- This is Eron's last week of classes. Can you believe it?! Please continue to pray for diligence and rest over the next few days as he finishes up papers and as he studies Hebrew and finals are approaching (the week after Thanksgiving).
- We are having our Thanksgiving dinner here in Louisville with a few friends from our community group/small group. We are having everyone over to our place and I'm super excited. Should be interesting, seeing that it's my first time to make a turkey and all that.
- We are headed to Texas for Christmas in just a little over a month. Woohoo! Please call or e-mail so we can meet up with you if possible. We will have our own car, so we can try and work something out!
- We are going through some really encouraging sermons on giving at church for a few weeks. If you want to listen, you can check 'em out here. We are so stingy with our money when it comes to giving to the local church. It's so often just another budget item.
- We are having our Women's Christmas Gift Exchange at church in a couple weeks, and I'm trying to think of what gifts to make/bring. Any ideas are gladly welcomed!! We have to bring 8 of the same thing and we leave with 8 gifts.
- Speaking of Christmas, we are doing a girls night for our small group this weekend and making Christmas cards. We will be sending them out, so if you've moved or have a new address, please e-mail it to me. THANKS!
- I guess that's about it...
HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GREAT MONDAY!!

I heart Fall, but I miss Texas too
Ok, it's gettin' chilly here and I'm loving the Fall weather for sure! But, I have to remember this means even colder temperutures are coming in the next few months. And come January I will probably be missing Texas a lot!!
